Step 1: The journey to become a bogey golfer.

After the absurdity of the fake zombie apocalypse in 2020, we found ourselves with one safe haven left— the golf course. So, what did I do in the face of impending zombie doom? I decided it was time to dust off my trusty old clubs and hit the greens. Not to hone my golf game, mind you, but just to have a laugh and enjoy some outdoor time.

Eventually, I got my hands on some new/used clubs and started playing more frequently. Then, lo and behold, on my recent birthday, my sister-in-law and her husband treated me to a round of 18 at the exquisite Pelican Hill. It was all sunshine and rainbows, or so I thought until I had the misfortune of witnessing a video of myself taking a swing. Let's just say my golf swing resembled a chaotic explosion of limbs. My only saving grace was my sweet bucket hat.

That cringeworthy moment served as my wake-up call. I realized it was high time to take this seemingly frivolous hobby a bit more seriously. But now comes the conundrum: what's the best way to go about it? Do I sign up for lessons, invest in the latest and greatest training aids, or simply follow the wisdom imparted by the legion of YouTube golf gurus? Naturally, my solution is to do it all and chronicle my adventures on the internet, like any other sane person.

So, here we go! I'll take you on my journey that officially kicked off in May, and together, we'll track my progress as I navigate the tumultuous seas of golf improvement.

Stay tuned...
